Name: Ipswich Ale Brewer's Table

Location: Ipswich, MA

History: Although the Brewer's Table just opened in January 2016, Ipswich Ale Brewery has been around for 25 years.

Recommended Brews: As a Boston-area native all my life, I've had my share of Ipswich Ale and felt that, for the most part, their beers were a reliable, local alternative to the ubiquitous Sam Adams and Harpoon. A visit to the Brewer's Table upped the ante for me, considerably.
The oatmeal stout was well-balanced, and the Barleywine brought the caramel sweetness and strength. My top recommendation is the Zumatra Stout, which is a cold brew-infused version of their Oatmeal stout that brings the coffee flavor, hard. If you like that, then try this.

While you're in the area: Check out Ithaki for great Greek cuisine. Since you're in the land of fried clams, you can't go wrong with most options, but Ipswich boasts the Clam Box as one of its biggest claims to fried seafood fame. You can also drive to nearby Essex to try the 'original fried clam' at Woodman's. The Crane Estate is equally well known for its beach as for its wedding venue, and Ipswich has plenty of antique stores to choose from, if you are so inclined.
