Name: Lamplighter Brewing

Location: Cambridge, MA, between Central and Inman Squares.

History: Lamplighter has owned its prime location for roughly one month, and they're already creating some buzz for brewing outside the box.  Many of Lamplighter's beers are fermented with Brettanomyces or 'Brett', a strain of yeast traditionally used in Wild Ales and Lambics.  This helpful article by Vinepair does a great job breaking down Brett.  Adventurous beer tasters rejoice, but traditionalists raise your glasses with them - there is something for everyone here.

Recommended Brews: I kicked things off with the Welcome to the Jungle flight, which consisted of the Group Therapy, Werewolves of Cambridge,  Mad Hatter, and Easy Tiger. Check here to get more detailed descriptions.  There wasn't a beer in this lineup that I didn't enjoy on some level, but the winner for me was the tropical, Brett-centric Easy Tiger IPA.  I followed up with a full pour of the Werewolves (great name, great Porter) but that's not a current offering on their rotator.

While you're in the area: You're surrounded by some of the best squares in Cambridge.  Spin around in a blind circle for twenty seconds and head in any direction when you open your eyes, and you will eventually wind up at someplace cool.  Lord Hobo, Meadhall, and Bukowski's all have great beer lists, the Druid is one of the best low-key Irish pubs in the city, Pinocchio's Pizza, Olecito, and Punjabi Dhaba all serve up cost-conscious, delicious food, and the architecture of Frank Gehry on MIT's campus is worth a bit of sightseeing.
