Name: Jack’s Abby

Location: Framingham, MA. AKA, Beerville, USA.

History: Jack’s Abby is one of the top breweries in the Bay State, focusing exclusively on lagers. Founded in 2011 by the Hendler brothers, Jack’s has seen meteoric growth over the past three years specifically, moving from their original taproom (now occupied by Exhibit A), to a beer hall that is more than three times the size of their first location. They hit everything you want from the taproom experience: great people, space, beer, and food!

Recommended Brews: The entire line of Framinghammer Barrel-aged Baltic Porters is fantastic. Hoponius Union is arguably the gold standard of India Pale Lagers on the market, and the Kiwi Rising Double IPL is probably on my top 10 favorite beers list. *Actual list to follow. For lighter fare, the Calyptra is a great session style IPL brewed with Citra hops and perfect for day-drinking. Have I mentioned that you should stay for the pizza?

While you're in the area: As I mentioned earlier, Framingham is quickly securing itself as Beerville, USA. Or at least, Beerville, MA. Exhibit A is turning out great beers like the Goody Two Shoes Kolsch, Cat’s Meow IPA, and Hair Raiser DIPA. Link to my review about them is here.

Stone’s Public House in Ashland is a perfect cozy tavern on a cold day. And Jack’s Abby just opened up Springdale Barrel Room, with a focus on brewing ales to complement Jack’s lager-centric approach. Review forthcoming!
